This page explains specifics and usage of the PacketiX.NET Online Test Environment.
Configuration Examples
The following three types of VPN can be built with the PacketiX.NET VPN Online Test Environment.
-
VPN connection between two PCs
By connecting two or more computers over the Virtual Hub, you can share files, talk over video phone, access systems via remote desktop and do many other things you could do with PCs connected over local network.
-
LAN remote access by VPN
To allow remote VPN users access to computers on the local LAN, and vice versa, you can set up a PC as a VPN bridge in the local network. Then, you connect the VPN bridge to the Virtual Hub of the PacketiX.NET VPN Online Test Environment via Cascade Connection
-
VPN connection between two LANs
You can also use a VPN to unite two local networks into one. For that, you set up a VPN bridge in both local networks, and connect both bridges to the Virtual Hub.
Features of the PacketiX.NET VPN Online Test Environment
The PacketiX.NET VPN Online Test Environment offers the following features. Click on the links for details.
No need for VPN server machine
For previous VPN services, it was necessary to have a server computer with a global IP address, and to install VPN server software. With the VPN Online Test Environment, users don't need their own server machine, they can open their own private Virtual Hub on the public VPN server.
-
Easy Configuration
To use the VPN Online Test Environment, the only necessary configuration is to create your Virtual Hub and to register users. This configuration work can be done in your browser.
-
Detailed settings are possible
The basic settings available on the web page are just a fraction of the full functionality of the PacketiX VPN 2.0 Server.
To administrate your Virtual Hub in detail, you can use either the Administration Manager software tool or an ActiveX control.
-
Maximum security
The PacketiX VPN Online Test Environment is based on the software PacketiX VPN 2.0. It uses encryption and digital signature based on the SSLv3 protocol, and offers user authentication by PKI (private key infrastructure). Within the VPN Server, all Virtual Hubs created by the users are completely separate Layer 2 segments, so information cannot be viewed by third persons.
-
High-speed throughput
The public servers of the VPN Online Test Environment use exceptionally fast hardware and network connections to make a high-speed VPN connection possible.
-
Free Use
SoftEther Corporation offers the PacketiX.NET VPN Online Test Environment as part of a non-profit, academic experiment. Users can access the service free of charge.
